ATV Rodeo in Creede

The ATV Rodeo was held on Labor Day, the last of the Labor Day festivities.   I couldn't miss it.
The rodeo arena at the fairgrounds in Creede.  Notice the mud hole and across the arena is a hill for jumping, plus the barrels for the barrel racing.  All events are timed and their are categories based on ages, 6-10, 11-15, 16 and older.

The 6-10 year olds always started each heat.

Sometimes the rider didn't look big enough to reach the pedals, so to speak.  This young man was only 7 years old.

And then you had a 15 year old on an ATV which looked more like it was made for the 6 year old.

If you go too fast around the barrels you tip over, like this side by side.  No one was injured and it took several men to turn it right side up so the driver could complete his run.  I also saw two atv's go over as well, again, no one was hurt.

Here they are trying to traverse the mud hole.

No matter how hard he tried, there was no way he was going to clear the mud hole.  He did get dirty.

Even the younger ones enjoyed jumping the small hill and taking on air.
What a great weekend, but my time here in Creede is done, tomorrow I move on to Durango and join back up with the WINs.
